Wind accounts for 1.5% of all of the electrical energy consumed in the world.
These figures are derived from the World Wind Energy Association, WWEA. At the end of 2008, the amount of wind power accumulated in the whole world reached 120 gigawatts. Furthermore, it is also estimated that the wind power industry already employs more than half a million people worldwide.
